Why I Started Lifting Ladies
I started Lifting Ladies because I know exactly what it feels like to hate the gym.
For years, I worked as a personal trainer in big, commercial gyms. I watched so many women walk in wanting to feel stronger and healthier, but instead feel intimidated, judged, or completely lost the moment they stepped through the door.
I wasn’t a sporty kid growing up. My own fitness journey didn’t begin until my late 20s, and for a long time I felt like one of the invisible people in every fitness space. I’d start, stop, and give up not because I didn’t care, but because I never felt like I belonged there.
Seeing other women struggle with those same feelings broke my heart. Fitness should never feel like punishment. No woman should feel out of place when she’s trying to take care of herself.
So, I created something different.
Lifting Ladies is a women-only strength training community in Islington, built for women who want to start (or restart) their fitness journey in a space that feels safe, friendly, and empowering.
Here, there’s no judgment, no competition, and no comparison — just small-group training, expert female coaches, and a community that cheers for you every step of the way.
Our mission is simple: to help women who’ve been scared of the gym learn to lift with confidence, build real strength, and enjoy moving their bodies again.
